- 2026-01-10 – Special Volunteer Award – Ed Crabbe

On January 10th, a party was held at the Library to celebrate one of our long serving and most impactful volunteers, Ed Crabbe. He has been a member of Computer Equipment Committee and has been instramental in designing and implementing the software and database used to house the library catalog. In addition he has written the software to upload scans of all the periodicals and obituaries held by our large library.
It was a chance to reminisce about Ed and his accomplishments. Several attendees told stories about working with Ed on this projects. For example, Mike Blachet said Ed just walked in one day to find Mike putting all the computers back in place after the painting and carpeting and that he’d never had gotten it done without Ed’s help. Several people mentioned Ed solves problems quickly and calmly. All present were thankful for all that Ed has done for us.
The WVGS members who attended to celebrate with Ed, were Liz Crabbe, Rich Sporski, Stephanie Sparks, Christa Minogue, Micheal Blachut, Charlie Mannino, Lou McLean, Jim Weichel, Diana Wittenberg, Dorrene Hern, Tim Hern, and Sandy Enkey.

WVGS Antiques Road Show – 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., November 14, 2025
Three appraisers from a local auction house will be available in the WVGS Library for the show. They are donating their time to us, but there will be a payment of $15 to WVGS due the day of appraisal. Checks should be made out to West Valley Genealogical Society.
One half-hour will be scheduled for each appraisal, so we recommend that you sign up and plan for no more than one or two items to be appraised. Please bring your item(s) with you. The appraisers will take a lunch break between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m., so no one will be scheduled during that hour.
