Volunteer Appreciation Award – 2024 Seminar Committee

These days, finding a group of people working together well, with a common goal, enjoying themselves, and helping others enjoy themselves is especially gratifying: a bright star amidst all things in the world.

That’s what it was like to chair this year’s seminar. I entered the job late with no experience with what it took to put on the biggest event we do each year. But I found a committee to whom it was NOT new, a committee that knew what needed to be done, who shared ideas and laughter, who worked hard to make the event a success.

They told me what to do and how to do it. I only had to ask a question, and they had an answer. They listened to new ideas, added their own, and improved the experience for everyone.

They created 162 packets of material for each attendee in an hour and a half by six. They stocked the church’s kitchen, set up food, drinks, and snacks for all the attendees, and packed it all up at the end of the day.

They talked newspapers into writing about the seminar and spread the news throughout the Valley.

They sold duplicate books, lanyards, dish towels, memberships, and maps.

They coordinated with the church to get the computers and slides set up, on the sound system, and the climate in the room

The Volunteer Appreciation Award for March goes to the 2024 Seminar Committee – thanks to you all.
