On Tuesday, March 7th, Kenny Kovac, Assistant Fire Marshall with the Sun City Fire District, presented a session about the different kinds of fire extinguishers and how to use them. Ten members were in attendance and were able to practice pulling the pin, aiming the nozzle, squeezing the handle, and sweeping toward the fire. That is PASS, an easy acronym to remember when an emergency strikes. Kenny was informative and amusing as we learned many facets of fire emergencies and the fire district. Another session was held on March 9th for seven more members.

After the training, we toured the library and learned where our four fire extinguishers were located. There is one in the computer room inside the door near the Aide’s desk, and one each at our three exits – the front door, the emergency exit in the surname hallway, and the emergency exit in the back of the main room. Please look around the library next time you are in and locate these extinguishers.

If you would like to participate in a training session, there are still a few spots left for our next class on Tuesday, April 4th, at 10:00 a.m. Please email Pat Tomaro at libraryaides@azwvgs.org to reserve your place. If you are interested in participating later, please email Pat, and we’ll arrange another class.
