Title: Beyond Stick Figures: Building Fuller Pictures of Your Ancestors
Speaker: Barbara Shroyer

Biography: Barbara Shroyer’s interest in genealogy began as a child. She grew up mostly in Summit County, Ohio. Occasional weekends and parts of each summer were spent in a house named Mount Aerie in southeast Ohio. There were large family Bibles on the piano, portraits of great grandparents on the wall, and a county history to read. Add to that the intriguing family tree in her baby book and she was hooked on genealogy. She graduated from the University of Akron with a hodge podge of business, speech, and education courses. She later earned a master’s degree in special education at Arizona State University. After her retirement as a special education teacher, she has worked nearly daily on genealogy. She and her daughter Susan have been WVGS members since 2001. Barbara holds a certificate from the NGS Advanced Skills in Genealogy course and is currently in ProGen.
Description: Is great grandpa just a name and dates on your tree? Or is he name, dates, and a few random facts? This presentation focuses on identifying what is missing from your ancestor’s story, locating the missing information, and building a more complete picture of your ancestor’s life.
Handout: Please bring the handout to the meeting.

ALUMINUM CANS & CLEAR PLASTIC BOTTLES ONLY Drop-off |
Guidelines for dropping off Aluminum Cans/Clear Plastic Bottles:
- Place aluminum cans and clear plastic-water/soda bottles in separate bags.
- Cans do not have to be crushed, but should be rinsed and empty.
- Water bottles can take up less room if they are smashed before putting the cap back onto the bottle.
Please, NO glass, prescription bottles, milk bottles, or food cans as these items need to be hand picked out. Also, NO bags with holes, as any item not rinsed may leak.
