Title: State Libraries & Archives: Finding Your Family’s Story
Speaker: Kori Tueller

Biography: Kori Tueller, MLIS, is the Administrator of the State of Arizona Research Library, a branch of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. She leads a dedicated team in fulfilling the library’s mission of “Preserving Arizona, Providing Access,” ensuring that historically and culturally significant collections remain accessible to researchers. These collections include the Arizona Collection, Arizona Newspapers, Federal and State Documents, Law, Maps, and Patent and Trademark Resources, as well as digital collections like the Arizona Memory Project and Reading Arizona.
Since joining the State Library, she has presented extensively on genealogical resources and research strategies at local, state, and national conferences. In 2021, she launched the annual Arizona Genealogy Day virtual event in partnership with the Arizona Genealogical Advisory Board, creating an accessible learning experience for genealogists at all levels.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Kori has spent over 30 years researching her own Irish and Italian ancestry, refining her research techniques, and inspiring new researchers to embark on their own journeys of discovery. Whether guiding beginners through their first family tree or connecting experienced researchers with advanced resources, she is passionate about making genealogy engaging, approachable, and rewarding.
Description: Understanding the difference between state libraries and archives is key to making the most of your genealogy research. This session explores how these institutions are structured, what types of records they hold, and how access differs. Using the resources from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records as an example, we’ll explore genealogy collections, federal documents, and state-specific resources to help you locate valuable family history records inside and outside of Arizona.

Piggy Bank Fund Raiser for New Computer Lab Chairs

The Fundraising Committee, with the support of the Long-Range Planning Committee, is undertaking a specific fundraising activity to purchase office chairs for the computer labs and the library’s offices. Fifteen chairs in all are needed at an estimated cost of $2,700.00. To raise these funds, we are on an adventure. We will use the large, brightly colored piggy banks we used several years ago to raise funds for another cause. The piggy banks will be placed on every table in our monthly meeting room and around the library. The committee will accept loose change, dollars, or checks in the piggy banks! Given the generosity of our members, we don’t think it will take long to raise these funds. We will give you updates at our monthly meetings.

Guidelines for dropping off Aluminum Cans/Clear Plastic Bottles:
- Place aluminum cans and clear plastic-water/soda bottles in separate bags.
- Cans do not have to be crushed, but should be rinsed and empty.
- Water bottles can take up less room if they are smashed before putting the cap back onto the bottle.
Please, NO glass, prescription bottles, milk bottles, or food cans as these items need to be hand picked out. Also, NO bags with holes, as any item not rinsed may leak.
