WVGS Classes/Workshops


To help you with your Genealogy, we offer a variety of basic-advanced Genealogy related classes/workshops.  Sessions are held in our Library in our Traditional classroom and our New PC classroom.

 

We cover the ins and outs of Genealogy, Genealogy Libraries, Genealogy Computer Programs, Technology Aids, Preserving Memories and Photos.  Classes may be registered and paid for at the library, on line or at our monthly Monday meetings. register online for classes

Novice Genealogy

 

A Basic Course for Beginning Family Research


This class will focus on the first steps needed to get you started on your research. No prior knowledge is necessary.

 

Introduction to: census, vital records, church, probate, land, immigration, naturalization,and military records with related papers to be found in each...what to look for & where to find it.

 

This class is one session only, recurring on the 3rd Friday of the month unless noted differently.

 

When registering, please indicate the date for which you are requesting.

Historical Records: Searching records tips, how to browse unindexed records, and how to find out what records are available.

Books: How to find and reference them, why some are not available from home, and where you can find those.

Wiki and Learning Center: Online classes, locality references and why you need to use them, additional information such as foreign language word lists, and more...

Introduction to PowerPoint

This presentation will introduce the fundamental capabilities of PowerPoint through examples and instruction.


In this class I will demonstrate:

• Initial set up guidelines.
• How to select and change design themes.
• How to work with text, graphics, pictures, sound & video.
• How to make a timed slideshow with effects and animation.

A handout will be provided for the class to follow and experiment with at home.
